Colorado Health Centers, Inc. is focused on creating safe water supplies, sanitation facilities and hygiene-related facilities for poor rural villagers in developing countries and the United States.
We believe the lack of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities are the root causes of hunger, disease and poverty throughout the developing world and rural United States. Our water projects have an immediate life-changing impact, particularly for women and children, who have the responsibility to gather water for their families every day of their lives in the developing world. CHC projects will utilize water and sanitation as a tool to create sustainable socioeconomic development in these poor rural communities.
In addition, CHC plans to also include a nutritional food program for pregnant women and babies from birth to their first 1,000 days of life. Science has shown that proper nutrition in food is critical during this time period. Without proper nutrition from birth and during the first 1,000 days of life, children suffer from a permanent decrease in both mental and physical capacity. Unfortunately, this reduced capacity in children, who are malnourished, appears to be permanent in nature and not reversible. One report indicates that approximately 300 million children per year die from malnourishment.
